    The Cafe - 2017

I haven't been to this site in quite a few years and things have changed. As I recall, The Cafe used to be where most of the activity occurred, but that doesn't seem to be the case now. Anyway, tonight I realized that I have gone more than 10 years without taking a dip. My 10th anniversary was actually on September 30th, but since taking a dip never enters my mind, the 10th anniversary came and went without me noticing and a couple more months went by before I realized it. So I just want to say to everyone, you can do this. Your life will be better without it. Your health will be better without it. Your finances will be better without it. Today may be your first day, but tomorrow will be your second. The days will add up and before you know it, 10 years will have gone by. Keep fighting. The victory is worth it.

    The Cafe - 2013

It has been many years since I’ve been here and things have changed. I thought I would check back in and give an update. I ran across this site in 2002 when I was about 1 week into quitting Skoal Straight Long Cut. My quit date was August 10th, 2002. I had tried to quit many times before and failed. But something was different this time, and I stuck to it. I made it to 100 days and posted an HOF speech. I made it past 200 days and was going strong. But it was about this time that I decided I had totally beaten the addiction and that I was safe. I don’t even recall what the trigger was, but I decided that I would buy a can of Skoal and have just 1 dip. So I did. I bought the can, took 1 dip and threw the rest of the can away. The only problem was, the next day I decided I would do it again. You know the rest of the story. This lead to 5 more years of dipping Skoal. On September 30th, 2007 I quit again. This time I knew that no matter what, I could never take another dip. I knew another dip could be a death sentence. So a few weeks ago, I had my 6th anniversary of being dip free. However, since the thought of dipping never crosses my mind, I just realized tonight that I had had another anniversary. So I just want to say good luck to you guys who are struggling tonight to make it another day without dipping. You can do it. I know it’s hard, but it is worth it. Stay with it long enough and there will come a day when the thought of dipping never even enters your mind. Also, learn from my mistake and don’t ever think that you've beaten it and it’s safe to take just 1 dip. So don’t dip today, and don’t dip tomorrow. Before you know it, you will be celebrating 6 years of being dip free.
