  13. Roll Call

PMFJ's Quit Group Monday, January 22, 2018 Quitters - sign here: PMFJ - 169 - Wow RWM, that's crazy and kind of disgusting. I don't remember seeing any of my teachers using tobacco, it was mostly family. My dad, uncles, and grandfather were smokers. Marlboros, Camels, my grandpa always had the butt end of a cigar stuck on his lip. My mom's dad was a dipper but I didn't know until years later after he died. So you would have thought that I would be a smoker. I remember one time as kid of about 11-12 years old picking up one of my dad's burning butts off the lawn after he had finished mowing. He used to just throw them anywhere and everywhere. It was still smoking, so I put it in my mouth and sucked some in. I started coughing and choking and I looked up and saw one of the neighbors from up the street looking at me over the fence in the alley. I knew then that I wasn't going to smoke and I was afraid that the neighbor would tell on me even though I knew my dad didn't really know the guy. The dip started stupidly. Some time late in high school, somebody got some Red Man and we tried it and it was disgusting. I went on a fishing trip with a friend and we had a pouch, spitting all over the canoe. Later, it changed from Red Man to Beech Nut Wintergreen because of the flavor. I remember one night going to a football game, sitting with one of my friends with our feet dangling over the track, spitting Beech Nut onto it. At the end of the game, there was a disgusting pool of spit on the track. We were the visiting team so we didn't care. So dumb! I was an athlete back then too, soccer was in my blood. Our coach caught us once during an out of state tournament and wouldn't put us in the games. I wish I would have learned my lesson then. NDT!! Supporters: STS - 418: I remember a river of redman/beeahnut spit at many of athletic events. So gross, but I don't do that shit any more. NDT!

Weekend was hard - not so much for the nicotine but for something to do. No dip then and no dip today! Supporters: RWM -321- don't need to stuff the face with cancerous poison. STS - 418 - Congrats on two weeks today Bonanza. Used to dip when I was bored just to pass the time away. But hell I used to dip when I wasn't bored. In fact, I used to dip all the time, as I was totally addicted to the shit and a total slave to it. I think that was the worst part about being addicted to dip, is that you have to dip even when you don't want one - like when you're sick or when your gums hurt so bad that the dip stings, but gut through the pain just to feed the beast. I am so fucking done with that. Yea I'm still an addict, but I am sure as hell not using. One day at a a time.

Accountability is key! Quitters - sign here: mcarlson006- Day 28. Supporters: STS - 417: Hell's Bells, there is a lot of quitting going on. Two weeks of more for Bonanza and DWLT, Three weeks or more for Foodbuzz and Gernjer, and closing in on a month for the MC. It it a true pleasure to fight the good fight with you each day to keep my freedom. I know some people can take or leave tobacco and occasionally use it. I am not one of those people. It sucks, but I am a tobacco addict (I am just not using). One dip = a can a day. It may not happen the first week, but I know for sure that using any amount will lead back to at least a can a day. Earning and keeping your freedom from tobacco is not easy. If fact it is one of the most difficult tasks a human can be asked to do. But one thing is for sure. It can be done!!! Freedom never tasted so good. Let's win the day guys. ODAAT!

  23. Roll Call

January 21, 2018 Quitters: CraigMac6- Day 903- Thanks STS! It is quite amazing how quickly the days add up; especially after that first year. You will be approaching 1,000 days quit before you know it. I truly believe after the first year things get a little smoother. That doesn't mean this is easy or we have it won, it just means the NB isn't choking us out every second of every day. At the end of the day, all that matters is we stay quit and you're doing an awesome job of that brother. Keep it up. I will for sure let you know if I travel that way. Going to google the location right now. NDT! SUPPORTERS: STS - 417: Thanks for the encouragement Craig. Yes, the one year mark was huge, the fact that I have now spent every season, every holiday, every activity without dip, makes doing it again all the easier. One day at a time of course. bflem-82X
