100 Pushups

Recommended Posts

I generally top out at about 40-42 pushups. However, for this program, I'm starting small and working my way up, all the way to 100. My arms are going to be HUGE when this is over.

CWC:

Day 1: 21

Day 2: 22

Day 3: 23

Day 4: 24

Day 5: 25

Day 6: TETANUS SHOT (in my massive arm/shoulder) has forced me to take day off.

Day 7: too busy and arm too sore.

Day 8: 26 (back on track)

Day 9: 27 (plus a 90-min martial arts class) suck my scrotum, whitey and UST!

Day 10: 28

Day 11: 29 (a bit of a strain)

Day 12: 30

Day 13: 31 (note--these are military style push-ups, not pantywaist style like some of you guys do.)

Day 14: Lazy sack of shit.

Day 15: 32

Day 16: 33

Day 17: 34

Day 18: 36

Day 19: 37 (some trouble but not exactly falling flat on my face, either)

Day 20: 38 (maintained concentration and form despite aggressive yellow lab puppy nudging me with her wet nose)

Day 21: 39 (39 was tough--hoping it's because I was tired and right after dinner)

Day 22: 40

Day 23: 41 (feel like I'm getting into good shape again--also did a bike ride with kids this weekend)

Day 24: 42 (Inspired by Cano's 472-ft homer in derby, I pumped out 42 ... but ouch)

Day 25: WTF?!

Day 26: 43

Day 27: 44 (44 was difficult--I hope I am not stuck on this number too long)

Day 28: 45

Day 29:

Day 30: 45

Day 31: 46 (with a two-count, suspension bridge rest at 40--let me know if that is illegal or allowed--all I did was rest for a second in the pushup position)

Day 32: 46

Day 33: 47

Day 34: DNP

Day 35: 48 (48 military style without slightest pause). Proud of myself. Doing these in the morning may be easier than evening.

Day 36: 49 (and a good day with the family)

I generally top out at about 40-42 pushups. However, for this program, I'm starting small and working my way up, all the way to 100. My arms are going to be HUGE when this is over. thumbsup.png

CWC:

Day 1: 21

Day 2: 22

Day 3: 23

Day 4: 24

Day 37:

Day 38: 50!

Day 39: 51 (trouble on last 2 but maintained good form throughout)

Day 40: 52 (really had to push it--barely made it up on the last one--may rest up tomorrow)

Day 42: 53

Day 44: 54 (worked up a sweat with about 1 minute of exercise--amazing)

Day 46: 55 (last 5 were grueling but clean--I'm already doing more pushups than I ever could before)

Day 48: 56 (thanks Serenity Man. Today I got this done because I am working from home ; ) )

Day 49: 56 (collapsed after 56)

Day 51: 57

Day 53: 58

Day 56: 59 (live from Lexington, KY)

Day 59: 60

How's the arms looking/feeling? This sounds interesting... is the body supposed to be able to build muscle fast enough to do one more push up per day. It seems unrealistic to me but you are proving that it can work so far! Tell me more about how it's going... do you skip days? The idea of being able to do 100 pushups is appealing I won't lie, I might just have to try this!

I swear before all that is holy that I am keeping an accurate account of my progress. I was a bit embarrassed at first when I started that I began with 21 pushups, which is "beneath" even me. At times, I have to pause in a bridge position and catch my breath/rest for a few seconds--this is usually after 45 pushups--and then I continue...slowly. It's hard. I often skip a day due to soreness but othertimes it's due to time constraints. Will I make 100? I don't know. I may reach my destined max/the limit of my physical capabilities. Right now, that feels like today, but there's this reserve of strength we all have to just do one more...

laugh.png Not to mess with your plan, but maybe every other day would improve progress. Last year I ran 5-6 days a week, 3 or so miles per day. By August I had a hard time jogging across the Walmart parking lot, but I could run daily. This year I am working out the rest of my body with p90x so intensely that I can only run 3 times a week. My legs are stronger and I am way faster and completely injury-free, even tho I turned 48. The rest is crucial for my improvement.

Whatever you do, keep going! We are watching!

Day 37:

Day 59: 60

Day 61: 61 (I did 61 despite suffering from insomnia for past 3 days--fuck--to sleep perchance to dream)

Day 64: 61

Day 67 (a.m.) 62 -- new max. but last 5 were forced, with a brief rest before each individual pushup. Right wrist (non-jerkoff one) was killing me. Starting to lose faith.

I generally top out at about 40-42 pushups. However, for this program, I'm starting small and working my way up, all the way to 100. My arms are going to be HUGE when this is over. thumbsup.png
