Day 439 NDT : I walk about 16 miles a typical week, but since the weather has gotten nice, I 'can' get an extra 6 miles in a week. Today I will commit to those extra 6 miles a week. That would be 22 miles per week/ or about 7 hours of walking at a casual pace.

Currently at 93 kg.

Plan is to get to 86 kg and then start a 'Couch to 5K ' training program, or otherwise known as C25K. This type of program eases a beginner into a running program through a combination of walking/running for 20 to 30 minutes as outlined here:

https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/couch-to-5k-week-by-week/

Might even start the C25K program sooner because it is less of a time investment.

Good work, Dipstick.

I didn't reach the lofty intentions I set out on last Sunday, and actually walked LESS than I normally do.

Walked 8 miles during the last week. I could bump it up to 12 later today. Been playing more basketball in the driveway with my boys.

I focused a bit on the amount of food I ingest. I tried to measure my food so that I would eat normal serving sizes and stayed away from sweets that add no nutritional value.

Lost 1 pound. Was at 206. Today 205 (or 93.44 k to 92.989 k). Goal is 190 and then 2nd phase begins.

So much for my promise to post more! Dammit!

I have been running 2-4 days a week. I have another month before I start training in earnest for my marathon. My goal is to be running 35-40 miles a week when the training starts. My weight is down a bit closer to 200 right now, but I still need to drop 15 lbs to be in good shape for training. If I hit that weekly mileage goal, I'll get there, especially in this heat!

Today's MAD: 18 total

Swimming MAD total: 10

Total Running MAD: 5213.8 miles since 1/2/2010

Weight: 203 - Took 3 weeks to loose the vacation weight.

Up to running twice a week now.   Ran 5 last Friday, so things are coming along.   Tendonitis is still bothering me but if I stretch, massage, and ice the recovery is much better.   The goofy thing is that I don't feel pain when running.  It's the tightness and soreness of my lower leg after running that bothers me the most.

One week into marathon training. Boy is it hot. Not complaining....just an observation.

Posting from mobile on this new format isn't as easy as it used to be. I must be more diligent posting when I'm on the 'puter. Saw that Jeffro kicked some ass in a 49K yesterday. Congrats bro!  Stick, I hope you are doing well.

Today's MAD: 22 total

Swimming MAD total: 10

Total Running MAD: 5264.8 miles since 1/2/2010

Weight: 201 - almost there, to break 200.  Still want to be below 180 at some point but it is hard losing weight after turning 50.

Actually ran 3 miles without stopping on Friday.  Slow but I was pleased with the speed given it had been so long.  I have a 5K in mind on 10/20/2018.  The distance isn't a problem but I would like to run 9min miles.  So more weight needs to come off.

Today's MAD: 42 total

Swimming MAD total: 10

Total Running MAD: 5306.8 miles since 1/2/2010

Weight: 202 - just been hovering lately, sticking to the KETO but I'm eating too much.

Running is going well, but I don't think I will extend my runs much over 4 miles.  Gonna try some alternative meds for the tendonitis soon.

Tiger - Keep up the good training.  I have some running friends that will be running the marathon with you.

Weight: 202 - staying the same, just can't break the 200 mark.

I ran a half marathon this morning. It was my first race since January, and man was it fun! I had a great time, plus I forgot how much fun it can be to run with people! Overall, just a super fun day.

On a side note, my training is going good. Having some lingering foot pain on the top of my left foot. If it doesn’t get better, I may drop back and run the half marathon at St Jude’s...we will see.

Hey all!  Just wanted to check in.  The craziness of this year is finally settling down.  Jess and I have officially moved to San Francisco.  I am blown away by all the awesome places to run out here.  Nice work on the half marathon Tiger!  I will try to pop in more often.  I have a really tough 50K coming up in a few weeks, it has over 6,000 feet of climbing and an 8.5 hour time limit, I don't know if my mid-western ass can handle that!

Cheers!

Nice work bflem!  Way to get out there and get it done.

20 mile training run today, https://www.strava.com/activities/1930860538 getting ready for Mt. Tam 50K.  Left out of my apartment, ran across the Battery and Bluffs, then across the Golden Gate Bridge, put in some miles in the Marin Headlands trails and then back.  Good run, going down to a redwood preserve with Jess tomorrow to get another 9 miles.  Have not had a high mileage week in a long time.  Feels good.

Cheers!

MILES AGAINST DIP

Oct. 28, 2018: 10.50 MAD

...........................11,005.75 MAD total

11.10.18: Mt. Tam 50K:

Ended up with about 10.5 miles today with Jess at the preserve https://www.strava.com/activities/1933062091 not sure if my Garmin adds distance in the thick canopy, would think it would be the opposite.  either way I will take the 10.5!  Ended up with 56 miles this week.  time to taper down, race in two weeks.  definitely nervous about making the 8.5 hour cutoff at mt. tam.  6,800 feet of elevation gain is going to be a grind but looking forward to it.

Cheers!
