My little brother (41) is in the hospital with an apparent heart attack. If ya'll have any good thoughts to spare, send 'em his way.

I'm just sitting here 1000 miles away feeling helpless waiting on news. I still don't even know how serious it is...I'm hoping no news is good news.

Thanks. They've got him in the hospital and say he might have some kind of blockage, but it being the weekend before the 4th of July, it's going to be a while before they figure out what they're going to do. :(

I'm worried about him. He's 6' 180 lbs and only 41... Doesn't seem like he should be having heart troubles...but then he is a truck driver...maybe all that truck stop food has caught up with him. They have him in the CCU There in North Little Rock.

Trying to decide if I need to go back to Arkansas.

I hit the wrong button (report instead of quote) and reported my reply to this post to Fornek, the Alpha team leader moderator, section chief dude... Sorry man. (Fornek opens his email and sees: RED ALERT, RED ALERT, RED ALERT. THIS IS NOT A DRILL, MAN YOUR BATTLESTATIONS! THIS IS A C.R.A.B. TEAM ACTIVATION. SOMEONE HAS BEEN OFFENDED BY A POSTING! ALL HANDS, MAN YOUR BATTLESTATIONS! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!)

Now I got Fornek all worked up that he finally gets to do something as a moderator and it's just a false alarm... RATS!!!

Jeez... what I was trying to say was... It might not be a bad idea Al, to head back and give what support you can to not just your brother but everyone else that is back there worrying etc...

Careful with that "REPORT" button there BJA2339. I don't need another brother having heart problems...especially because of getting too excited over a false alarm. :)

Little Brother David has some tests scheduled this afternoon. That should help me make up my mind if/when I need to go back. You're right about the support for everyone else...My Mom is really worried about him. But then, that's what she does. She was on the '68 olympic worrying team. :)

Thanks. He had a angiogram or however you spell it done and it didn't show any blockages. He's still having chest pains after 3 days, but they can't find a cause. I guess he's doing better.

I hate getting news second hand. :)

Update on the little brother:

He is home from the hospital. They've done some tests and the only one that didn't come back okay was the stress test so far. After the stress test they said he might have a blockage, but when they did the angio whatever test, I guess it came back okay. He's still having chest pains, but they don't seem worried about them. He's got a doctor's appointment for today and I'd have to assume more tests to come. Thanks to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers.

Hey animals- I didn't want you to think that I'd dropped off the face of the earth, but was out of town for a few days. I also wanted to let you know that I will be changing jobs within my company and may not be able to post every day, as I will most likely be traveling some. If you do not hear from me, it is not because I have drifted or have lost touch with all of you, but just tied up with the new job. I'll pop in as regularly as I can, take care my brothers and keep up the fight.

Oh yeah, I had a dip dream last night. It was a combination beer/dip dream. Just like the last dip dream I had a year or so ago, I bought two cans, had a dip, felt bad about it and couldn't figure out what I was going to do with the rest of it.

For me, the dip dreams are a good thing. No way I want to go through that feeling of letting ya'll down and failure that I woke up with this morning. Just a reminder that no matter how many quit days I accumulate, I can't ever let my guard down.

Going pretty well. I think I'm having more trouble giving up Dr. Pepper than beer. :) Day 11 with no beer or Dr. Pepper. My stupid scales are messed up, so I don't know if I'm losing weight or not. I'd better be. Cutting out a couple thousand calories a day has to help a little...doesn't it? I think the scales I have will start working once I get under 280. The electronic ones quit working altogether after I tried cleaning 'em without turning 'em off...you'd think an ex electronics tech and engineer would have known better. :) I just thought I'd fix 'em if they messed up, but then after they messed up, I didn't feel like messing with 'em and just threw them away.

Anyway, it's going pretty good.

Hey quitters. Took my family to the Outer Banks (N.C.) last week and we had a great time. I’ve never been much of a beach person but in this case it was enjoyable. Other than the fact that the water pretty much felt like ice water. I think Navy SEALS train in that stuff. Sheesh.

When we first arrived I had some mild craves, undoubtedly because I hadn’t been to the Outer Banks in a dozen or so years, and at that time I not only was dipping but also boozing. Actually it might be overstating things to call them craves, but there certainly was a flashback or two. Amounted to a brief reminder, nothing more, but I still occasionally marvel at this experience.

I don’t miss the lifestyle or the risks.

Fornek, you’re a far more patient man than I. Most I’ve done is spring for the annual membership at our local pool, located roughly a mile from my house. The MILF index is only so-so, but the location’s tough to beat.

Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to look into that "fresh air" kid deal. Do you have that out there? They take the inner city kids and send them out to the country. I'll teach them to wax the truck, mow the lawn all summer for the price of a couple of sandwiches and some water. :D
