I purchased a Nike SQ on Saturday and have been able to hit it more than 300 yds. The trick now is to figure out how to control it.

I played 9 today on a pretty easy course. The four of us polished off one case of beer. I don't keep score on Thursdays. It's pretty much just a way to get together and goof around. I'd have to guess that I shot somewhere between 48-54. I didn't even get my driver out of the bag. Just practiced with the irons today.

What did you think of Tiger pulling that one off on Monday? I was rooting for Rocco. He grew up about 10 miles from me (but 18 years earlier).

My son is a big Tiger fan, so I had to cheer for him. It was the most exciting tourney I've ever watched. A bunch of us at work went down to the bar to watch the last couple of holes.

I'll hitting the course on Sunday. I just bought a new set of Adams OS irons. The 3, 4, 5, and 6 are hybrids. I hit them pretty well at the driving range yesterday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Moody, you have the nerve to pick on us left turn fans when you play this sport....ssshhh...(hushed whisper)...Moody tees off here to start the QS open....he's gonna hit this little white ball...then he's gonna go find this little ball then hit it again??????......I say pick it up, Mood...you're lucky you found the @&^%^%$$'N thing!!! (flagrant plagarism of George C...I know)......I guess to each his own is what I'm tryin' to say. innocent0002.gif

I heard on the radio that it's estimated that Nike lost approximately 70M of exposure due to Tigers absence for the rest of the year.

Where you golf Moody? Golf Caradam at all? Nice course...had a membership there for a year. Actually hit a double eagle there once on #5. I teed off and ended up clearing the woods just to the right (above the 5 fairway). Took out a 3 or a 5 wood and rode the upper right bank...hit some stuff, ball bounced up, trickled onto the green and in the cup...at 6:45 am with no one around to witness it...damn the luck of it all!!! Besides that, have only broken 100 once.

Yessir. I've been playing Caradam every Thursday lately. It's pretty nice if you don't mind hills.... Besides there, I golf at Irwin Country Club, Butler's Golf course in Elizabeth, Manor Valley in Harrison City, and sometimes Murrysville country Club. This weekend I went up to Erie and fished all day followed by 18 holes at Country Meadows Golf club in Cambrige Springs (just south of Edinboro). Hole #17 was a pretty sweet par 3 of about 125 yds. The green is an island sitting on a 2.5 ft stone wall surrounded by water. If you don't hit the green, you can really f-up your score. Luckily I put it on first try, but 2 putted for a par.

I live 6 blocks from a course voted Minnesota's #1 public course. It's only $32 for 18 any day of the week. Hiawatha has a great driving range and a really unique "short range" which consists of three putting greens, several bunkers and the ability to practice chipping up to 130 yards. I went there last night at 8:45 p.m. and got almost an hour in before the misquitos were too much to bear (it stays light until almost 9:45 this time of year in MN).

Anyway, I purchased a new driver and complete new set of clubs with my first law firm partnership disbursement check. I'm a shitty golfer, but I now know that part of my problem was with my clubs. I purchased a Nike Sumo 9.5 2007 model for $199.00 and a set of Adams OS Hybrids for $499.00.

I went out on Sunday and hit a 114. Sucky I know. But, I did get my first birdie of the year on a very difficult par 4. I hit a 10 on one hole and hit a couple of snowmen, so minus those shitty holes, I might have broke 100 for the first time since 1999.

I'm actually enjoying golfing for the first time in a long time.

I worked at a golf course for awhile. My favorite job was picking up the balls on the driving range, but I could swear that people were trying to hit me. Anybody here aim for the ballboy?

fun isn't it? It can sometimes be bitter sweet. Last week I played my worst game of the year. Every hole sucked. Then on the last hole, I drove about 280 yds (pretty good for me) straight down the middle, pitced it on the green, then 2 putted for a par. It has a way of making you want to go back over and over...

I hear you. It is probably the most aggravating sport to participate in. My last round I hit 103 and lost 6 balls. The sad thing is that it was the best round for me since 1998. The more you play, the better you get.

I just started playing more this year than ever before. Usually, every Friday I have been playing 9 holes and am the last one on the course, and finish about dark. I have had scores anywhere from 72 to 54 (Just shot this tonight). I can definately say my game is improving just gotta keep at it, got about a month thill the season is over, but then curling will start up so I am good.

So tonight I had another single behind me catch me, and then since the going was slow he joined me on the second hole. The third hole he packed his lips full of shit. So I got to watch him spit and slur for the next 7 holes, he may have beat me at golf but man...poor guy.

Enjoy Gentlemen!

Val,

Congrats on the 54. That's actually somewhat respectable for me. I went out last weekend for the first time since my last post here. The first three holes, I one-putted it (one putt was from over 15 feet). My golf-mates were schocked and thought I was a golf god. The rest of the round wasn't as good and my long game sucked. But I beat my neighbor which gave me a real sense of satisfaction. But I digress.

My neighbor also stuffed his lip full of Kodiak and was pathetically spitting the whole round. He's obviously an amateur. I could put a dip in my lip and not spit once. Only fellow dippers would even have a suspicion that I was chewing. I don't get casual dippers. Maybe I'm jealous. Anyway, I know that his wife freaks out when he smokes since she had to bring him to the ER once when he suffered an asthma attack. I didn't tell my wife about it, but I'm feeling a little guilty about it.

I think I am improving somewhat. Last time I shot, I shot a 76. But then I got to the back 9 and fell apart...
Val
Well our courses finally opened a couple of days ago. I was able to go hit a bucket of balls over lunch, little rusty but it felt good.

I just picked up new Calloway Diablo driver, now I can slice the ball further...will have to work on that one. They had a special but a driver and get a fairway wood for 1 dollar. I got suckered in. Oh well, I did my part to stimulate the economy..

Hopefully I can get out this weekend and play nine. We shall see, it's supposed to rain.

the one great thing about golf is everyone can have their moments when they look like a pro. last time i played golf, i played awful all day (didnt get a good warm up at the range before) and on the last hole, after a day of sucking horribly, on a par 4, i CRUSHED a beautiful drive right up the middle and came within maybe 30 yards of hitting the green... layed up and 1 putted for the birdie... that was a great way to go out on the day.

another time too, i overshot the green and was stuck in deep rough... on my chip though, i made great contact, pitched it up, it ran a little, and then sunk right into the hole...

anyone else have any glimmering moments on the course?

Yeah, two weeks ago I was finishing an underwhelming round of golf. On the par 4 eighteen hole I left the ball about 25 feet short of the green and another 20 feet to the hole. Decided to see what a putter could do. I allowed for about eight feet of break, took a relaxed, full stroke, and watched with great satisfaction as my partner's jaw dropped at the exact moment the ball dropped.
