Would one of you Crossfit nuts mind letting us in on the secret? I visited the site, but I'm still hazy on how it works. Do you just follow the routine that happens to be posted that day? Is it something best done in tandem with others at a local gym? What's so fun about it? I feel like I'm missing out!!!!!
If you are not crossfitting, then you are missing out!!!
To put it bluntly, crossfit focuses on functional athleticism. The workout on the main page is enough work for one day. Obviously, you will need a warm up (there is a standard, but I pretty much just run an 800 and stretch). It seems odd, but there are days where my entire body is completely blasted after a 16 minute workout. It takes me longer to recover than when I used to lift for 1.5 hours. They follow the zone diet, which I'm not too good at sticking to. Basically, cut sugar out of you life and eat real food (veggies, nuts, lean meat, etc.). The best part is the site costs nothing to visit. The workouts and instructional videos are free (contrast with PX90). Also, I've got a bunch of workouts I can do at home when I don't make it to the gym (sandbags, etc.). There are a number of CF affiliates, but their charges are somewhat pricey (but probably worth it if you compare a gym fee & personal trainer).
I love the workouts. My suggestion is to give it 4-5 weeks. Follow the exercises (and make a marked improvement in eating) and do whatever you can to get it done. This isn't a program where you can half-ass it. You start, go balls out, then stop. If after 4-5 weeks you don't notice a huge difference in your fitness, I'd be amazed. (That clown cartoon picture that is throwing up is known as "pukie". I've never personally met him, but I've been close.)
I'd be more than happy to "explain" some of the workouts to you (post here, in the workout forum, or pm me). You should also watch the videos on the page.
Give it a shot. just remember, 3...2...1...go
