Phil Nye The Dipless Guy

Ok, been craving bad for the past week, and want to buy some fake snuff.
I DON'T CARE ABOUT FLAVOR. I NEVER CARED FOR ANY FLAVOR OF DIP ANYWAY (Save maybe Skoal vanilla and cherry) SO THAT IS NOT AN ISSUE
I am looking for which herbal snuff has the best TEXTURE. Which one feels the most like Skoal or Grizzly Long Cut. I hate the fake snuffs that are finely cut. Gimme something that FEELS like real dip, and I'll be happy.
I have heard Hooch is real good. I tried Bacc-Off, and that shit sucked, so did Mint-Snuff.
Any help?

I never used any fake chew, but I found a piece pulled from a cotton ball and placed in the spot I used to keep cope took care of the desire to have something there.
I'm serious.
I also found that pouring some Listerine on the cotton helped even more if I had a strong craving.
Some guys used tea from tea bags, but, as strange as it sounds, pices from cotton balls worked like a charm for me.

I second that. Maybe it works best for ex-Copenhagen chewers. I was amazed at how much it felt like a dip, and the mouthwash - I used mint - gave the familiar "burn." I still pop about one every two weeks when I get edgy.

For what it's worth, if you forge a new habit, whether sugarless gum or fake chew, you're gonna have to break yet another habit, even if it's not addictive like nicotine. If you can survive without the fake chew, then do it.
Still, it's better to fill your cheeks with fake chew than cave to tabacco in any form.

I agree with it to a point. My thought was if I used sugarless gum rather then trying to find something that felt just like Cope it would be easier to back off of once I got through the rough part. I never did the fake chew so I don't know what breaking off of that would have been like, but I found I didn't need the gum at about day 120 or so and just tapered off because I really didn't have a urge for it anymore. I still like the sunflower seeds when I'm at the baseball parks, but I did a lot of that even when I dipped so I could get through the games without chew because I didn't want the kids to see me dip.

New to this site, and on day 15..I've been using Smokey Mountain for those tough times. Was a Kodiac and Grizzley Addict. Would recommend the Wintergreen and Classic mix. Might even want to add a little Cherry to it... To me, Smokey Mountain has been the easiest to find as well. Meijer carries a ton of it... All the best and God Bless.

Any of you guys ever hear of Blue Whale? They are suppose to have a tobacco free pouch that still has nicotine, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Hopefully, you'll never find any and get started with a serious quit.
All any nicotine product does is delay the inevitable without satisfying the Nicotine Slave Master within. It keeps you in a constant state of wanting more. When you finally quit all nicotine, you will experience the same withdrawal symptoms as if you gone cold turkey from the start.
I'm writing from experience. I used NRT for 97 days. It did not help get me free. It only changed my nicotine delivery system from dip to something else.

STAY AWAY FROM BLUE WHALE! IT'S NO BETTER THAN THE SHIT YOU'VE COME HERE TO QUIT. You got to trust me. I tried Blue Whale and it turned me into a worst addict. I went back to Copenhagen with a vengeance.

I have to agree with the last couple posters. The fake stuff DOES NOT WORK. All you are doing is delaying the inevitable and chances are real good that before you quit chewing the fake stuff you'll either be mixing in some skoal with it, or going back full throttle to the real thing. I tried it for awhile and it sucks. It tastes terrible and you're just teasing your body. You will eventually find a way to rationalize going back to the real thing and before you know it, you'll find yourself buying a can and stuffing the real thing in you mouth.
The idea is too quit. Stop putting that stuff in your mouth- period. That's my best advice. I know what you're going through. You say I hate this shit and I want to stop, but when you finally stop you get anxious and nervous and rage flows through your veins. IT GETS EASIER. You're in a fight that you can win! You gotta believe me... it gets easier. You have to decide, in your mind, that you're done with it. Fake dip can only get you so far.
Believe me... I'm with you. It's hard. When you're used to having something in your mouth all the time... it's hard. You miss that. What I did that FINALLY worked for me was get some toothpicks and soak them in Cinnamon Oil. I wasn't trying to trick my body into thinking it had dip. Your body knows. Chew on the toothpicks- it's much better. But eventually, this becomes manageable. It never goes away completely, but neither does the desire to quit, that is, as long as you've come to that fork in the road and made a conscience decision to STOP. USING. DIP.
One more thing. When I finally quit, when I FINALLY did it after multiple attempts... I made the decision on Jan 23rd to quit. I gathered up all my cans from the office, from my boat, from the car, from the golf bag, from all the little hiding spots and pitched them all. I joined this site and posted Day 1. I did it. Day 1 was sort of easy. Day 2-10 were hell. On day 8, I found a brand new unopened can. My wife was at her parents with my girls. I was home alone getting a drink of water. I reached up to grab a glass and right above the glasses there is little spot above the cabinet that perfectly holds a can of chew. As I reached up for a glass, I reached a little higher just to see... is there a can up here? There was. I grabbed it. Stood there for a minute, face to face with the bitch. I found myself getting angry... OUT OF MIND PISSED. I took that can opened it and walked to the bathroom, opened the toilet to dump it in, and stopped. I closed the lid, opened it. Brought it up to my nose... smelled it.
This was it. I was teetering on the edge of quitting, to going back to my old ways. But there is no denying that was my fork in the road. I stood there contemplating everything. What was at stake, my relationship with my wife that had become strained thanks to this addiction. The history of cancer in my family. The money I've wasted over the past 16 years. This was it. I don't remember how long I stood there, but I wanted my freedom, and so I dumped it. In the toilet it went, followed by a tearful FUCK YOU. I stood there and freaking sobbed like a school girl- that was freaking hard to do, but I did it. I made up my mind that my desire to quit was stronger than my desire to chew. So right then, I imagined my addiction as a little demon running free in my mind that I somehow trapped. And before he got loose again, I built a giant wall around him in a circle, like a well above ground. And brick by brick sealed him off. He's in there, but he can't get out as long as I remember to add another layer of bricks and keep reminding myself that it is his mission to escape and get me back using nicotine again.
So, fake chew and different things... I don't know. It doesn't work for most people and it didn't work for me you're just putting off making a hard decision. If you want to quit, then quit. Go find your own fork in the road and make the decision to give it up, and do it boldly!
I'm nicotine free after 16+ years can-a-day chewing. Day 1646.
