Hey everybody. I am new to this site. Started dipping pretty regularly when I was 12 and I am 29 years old now....17 year addict. I feel I needed this site and the support for people just like me out there. I am in the US Navy where the stuff is all around me. Out of a group of 20 sailors, it's for sure 10 of them smoke and at least 5 chew tobacco. That's my figures, at least.

I have tried to quit cold turkey, taper-off, hypnotherapy (just recently), and never had the help I think I could get from this site. Glad I joined. Looks like there are plenty of boys in my shoes around here. I told myself last Friday (Feb 19, 2010) was going to be my last day. I was dipping a can every day and a half. That same day I made my first and only appointment to the hypnotherapists with zero success. I left there wanting one more than ever. I had heard success stories about that path I think I just had my hopes set way too high. However, I relapsed just 18 hours after my quit date started and I was devastated, to say the least.

But, I monitored my intake and made that can last 5 days. That was awesome and a small battle won for myself. I am going to meet my dad and the rest of the family in Texas this weekend and don't think it would be a great time to start my quit date until next Monday. I am going to try cold turkey again for good but I will definitely need support from my online friends to make this happen.
