How to Post ROLL CALL

Step 1 - Find your Quit Group which is determined by the date you decide to quit.

HINT: You will be in the newest group. Groups are named for the month you reach 100 days quit. (IE: people quitting between 10/25/11 and 11/22/11 will hit 100 days in FEBRUARY 2012) (click here to see the list of newest Quit Groups)

Step 2 - Locate and click on Roll Call.

Step 3 - Click the Quote button in the lower right hand corner of the very first entry.
(The text/edit box that appears will be prefilled with the contents from the last roll call poster)

Step 4 - Click on BBCode Mode (Bulletin Board Code) in the top left corner of the text box. The text in the box should now have no formatting and should only be text.

Step 5 - Delete the very first line of the pre-filled contents.
It will look something like this: [q-uote name='steve50' timestamp='1301938433' post='5683904']

Step 6 - Click on BBCode Mode (Bulletin Board Code) in the top left corner of the text box again, bringing the formatting back which makes it easier to find your place.

Step 7 -Delete the very last line of the pre-filled contents in your post. It looks like this: [/-quote]

Step 8 - Under the "Quitters" fill in your your name, number of days you have been quit, your promise to not dip today and whatever other rant you feel like adding. (The day you quit is Day 1)

Step 9 - Click Post

Step 10 - Stay quit today like you promised.

Step 11 - Congratulate yourself for making a great decision

Step 12 - Do it again tomorrow

Is it a coincidence that since posting roll call became this eight-page instruction booklet, the site has nose-dived in usage?

There should be a simpler way that a dummy could figure out with *zero instructions*. That is, good UI means "Don't make me think".

I am not being facetious. It shouldn't be this complicated (note obviously those of us that do it a lot realize it isn't that complicated, but the change in format really seems to have been one of those fateful design decisions: when deciding between quit sites, and I am in the middle of withdrawal, which am I more likely to pick: the one where it is really easy to get started, or the one with long confusing instructions?

How to Post ROLL CALL - Roll Call Instructions

Step 1 - Find the last Roll Call in your Quit Group (searching from the first post on page 1 backwards).

Step 2 - Click the Quote button in the lower right hand corner of the last roll call poster.
(The edit screen that appears will be prefilled with the contents from the last roll call poster)

It will look something like this: [q-uote name='Winterhawk' timestamp='1301938433' post='5683904']

Step 4 - Delete the very last line of the pre-filled contents in your post, it looks like this: [/q-uote]

Step 5 - Under the "Quitters" fill in your your name, number of days you have been quit, your promise to not dip today and whatever other rant you feel like adding.
(The day you quit is Day 1)

Step 6 - Click Post

Step 7 - Stay quit today like you promised.

Step 8 - Congratulate yourself for making a great decision

Step 9 - Do it again tomorrow
