Wow, never heard of one completely disintegrating. Must be your humidity. My old red kettle from the Bailey compound is still ticking, has a few Macguyver components though. Tractor made me promise I would will it to him. So let it be written, so let it be done.

It is coming apart where all of the tack welds are on the lower bowl. Everything else is fine. While the humidity has played a roll in its demise, I willingly admit that at best I have abused it. I have had the fire hot enough in it to warp the grate.

I have two WSM (18 & 22) that are still in decent shape. I have had to replace some of the internals but the bowls and chambers are still whole.

I would like to get a BGE but I have one kid finishing up year two at TT and the other one will be a freshman at TAMU in the fall.

My experience with Weber stuff is that its not made the way it used to be made.  the original kettles will probably outlive new ones today.

Is there still a Bailey compound?

It is with great sadness that the useful life of my Weber Performer is coming to an end. The automatic ignitor has not worked for some time. I have multiple holes in the kettle itself. The final blow? The ash catcher would not come off this past weekend and when more force was exerted to aid such removal, several rusted fittings fell off.

The good news? A birthday is just around the corner... Is it overly obvious to put its replacement in the Amazon cart?

Bubba - 4928

Was on vacation last week. Went to the Big Apple with my youngest one for a few days. Saw some sights, ate very well, spent some money. Highlight was the 9/11 Museum and Memorial area. Paid tribute to an old friend. I thought it was a great museum and done very well.

Another Fake Day Off Roll Call

J5K quit

I am growing very tired of these strategic days off after major holidays. Don't get me wrong, I believe Easter is a huge deal but why the Monday after Easter in the US?

I'm not sure what you are talking about.  I haven't heard anything about people taking Monday off.  Is that a thing now?
This past Monday was Emancipation Day. It is only celebrated in Washington D.C.

"Emancipation Day is a holiday in Washington DC to mark the anniversary of the signing of the Compensated Emancipation Act, which president Abraham Lincoln signed on April 16, 1862. It is annually held on April 16."

Since 4/16 was a Sunday they observed the holiday on 4/17.

In Massachusetts third Monday in April is formally known as Patriots Day and all state offices are closed along with banks and others. The Red Sox play an 11AM game and the Boston Marathon is run. Since the Marathon runs a block away from Fenway, and finishes about a mile away it also a colossal traffic jam for most the day.

I didn't take the day off.  I just assume day-after breaks are for people too hung over to come to work.
