Not sure why the Quote box keeps coming up when I'm not quoting anybody but whatever. Day 92 and got hit with a minor crave. I've got a good friend that owns a liquor store and I got my dip for free from him most of the time. I stopped in to say HI, as I do two or three times a week and when I pulled up and saw the booze and tobacco signs, bam, my tongue started licking the inside of my lower lip like something was missing. Lasted a few seconds and went in to say hi to my buddy. The day I quit, I told him I quit and not to give or sell me dip...he is proud of me for quitting so that's another level of accountability. Transparency in a person's quit is key. I have a white board in my office that I write my days quit every day and my coworkers know and check my board and encourage me to keep it up. I kiss my wife more often...like the really good licking each others tonsils type kissing...and then that leads to other things like wiping down the entire tile floor in the kitchen and dining room or getting some rug burn. I've got accountability here in The Dump as well and Ya'll here have helped me more than you know and I thank you for all you've done. I've always thought that laughter can kill a crave so we've set up The Dump for fun! I'm open to suggestions for celebrations in The Dump for my day 100. We know what we like here...Dave the Dumping Dog will be there so wear the appropriate footwear. I'm thinking Bikini fireworks, Bikini piñata...of course a taco bar. I'm looking into BPBB...(Body Painting Busty Babes) and an OSHA station to re-certify pressure testing of everyone's Blow up Dolls. We'll give the Gerbils a day off and set up an obstacle course race and obedience competition. I think @Tiger Refuge gerbil "Hershey" is the favored but we'll see. The Dump will be open to all brave enough to come so spread the word.

November quit group. I was a November quit group a year ago and posted this item in my group this morning. Wanted it to be available to this group of November quitters as well. August 7, 2019 aug4 day 369. Thanks again to everyone for the support over the past year. Hard to believe a year back this was day 5 or so. I was on a beach vacation with my family during the first few days of my quit and thinking this sucks and how am I gonna go back to my shit job without my dip fix. So far it has all worked out. Funny how things work out. Especially good things you do for yourself

No Booze Crew ...where 1 is too many and 1000 isn't enough. 08/15/19 steve50-66 days dry- I'll say that staying dry while out with friends and family at bars, restaurants and festivals was a test but the real test was last Sunday when I was home alone all day working around the house on a beautiful sunny day. If those stars were to align 67 days ago I would have drank a half a jug of brown booze with a few beers to boot. I was pretty pleased with myself for not being terribly tempted. Oh I thought about the old days but never felt I was fighting off an urge. I'm dialed in.

SUCCCESS!!! Just got home from work and thought I'd give it a try and it works. We can now get back to being the best Dump we can be...posting from work puts limits on quality Dumpiness

Thats great!! I was wrong thinking they are the same person, but I was correct that they act the same because they are both serial quitters. I was a serial quitter also but only in my house and only for a few hours, then I would break down and go buy another can lol. When I decided I really needed to stop and couldn't do it by myself, I came here and KTC. It worked! I'm with Tiger quitting is hard and if you don't want to work for it all the atta boys in the world won't help! Good riddance!
  6. 2 points
They are definitely two different people. I went to KTC and posted in their group. SF99 was a guy that had some time in over there and caved. All I can say is, it doesn’t matter where you post. Just fucking stay quit. I understand that we don’t have a bunch of quitters posting here any more. However, Trout has said multiple times that he left KTC before because they were too hardcore. Then he flakes out here any time anyone made any kind of suggestion about being more accountable. You wanna quit? I mean REALLY wanna quit? No, he doesn’t. He wants to be coddled like a little baby and told everything is candy and ice cream. It’s not. Man the fuck up and take the hard advice along with the “atta boys” that come with quitting. Im sorry y’all. I’m just sick of this mamby pamby coddling shit. Have a good Saturday.

(tell her come on now, it's about my health). I found a little solace in seltzer water. That little tingle without sugar/sweetness seems to do the trick. Plus zero calories. I've kept it on hand and been drinking the shit out of it.

Think I'll celebrate with a few tacos today. STS - 993: Damn brother, I was thinking the same thing this morning, about not being a slave to that shit anymore. Bonanza - 590 - My only thoughts this morning were to wonder why we had tacos yesterday. No dip (or apparently tacos) for me today!

I was here before, five years free. Caver, retread, whatever you want to call me, I've struggled to shut the door on tobacco. I'll need to work on this or I can't expect much of a different outcome. Anyways, I'm quite in the fog so glad to be here, tobacco free for today, with NE78, Palmer, Chill, and the supporters/vets. I look forward to getting to know you so let's wake up, post up, and put this bitch in her place today. NDT!

We may be but future readers will see the progression of a failed quit attempt and hopefully learn from it. We had the same type of stuff 15 plus years ago when I first joined here. If @MDStriker caved, at least he should have the balls to say so to the group and supporters. We've all tried to quit 100 times and failed...he should post if he caved and get back in his group and get this quit on.

Seems so odd to me, commuting from one state to another, but I've done it before, eons ago, when I lived here in Missouri and worked across the river in Illinois. Somehow that seems different though. Aging parents... my mother won't say, because that's just how she is, but I know it's hurting her that we're leaving. She's physically frail, but mentally sharp as a razor. I think the thing that I would wish for, with aging parents, is less discussion of the medical stuff. I know they're dealing with it, and I'm not saying we don't talk about it, I just wish there was more time for talking about living life. Just to clarify though, I've been private sectoring it for about 2 years now, and I'm going back to work for the feds. It's where I belong. This world here is in desperate need, and frankly I think they'll be fine without me, but I can't say I won't miss the client contact. As weird as it may sound, I'm looking forward to getting back to clear, solid, detail oriented policies and procedures perspective one gets from government work (as odd as that may sound).

100 days Holy shit I can’t believe I made it this far!! I will start by saying the support here is amazing and I can’t thank you all enough for supporting me during this time. I will be honest it was a tough road my hardest times were around day 55-70. During this times I had some bad craves and they did not seem to want to pass, several times, I found myself in a parking lot of a store asking myself two questions. 1) Do I need a dip and if I needed it meant I was going to die without it. 2) Do I want it and if I wanted it then I am a fool. My brain would always tell me that I needed it or as I know now the nicotine and my addiction was talking. I believe there were 2-4 times during this time frame where I where I was sitting in the parking lot ready to just buy a can and instead I text RWN and started telling him about the craves. Little did he know he talked me out of caving at those very moments because I never told him that I was about ready to crash and burn! I was embarrassed that I even allowed myself to get that close so I just kept it a simple conversation about my craves, length of them so on and so on. RVM would remind me of my addiction and say the things I needed to hear to not cave, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!Then I hit day 70ish and I came to a conclusion that I was romantizing about dip and that was the reason I was having so many craves. At this point when I was able to make it to 70ish, I knew I could make it to 100 and beyond. What am I going to do now? My intentions are to continue to post daily and I am treating day 101 as a day 1 I’m going to do it over again except this time I am going to end at 200 days and then do it all again one day at a time. I am going to pass on getting a coin my reason is simply I don’t feel I need it. I know what I need to do to stay quit and I just need to continue doing it. Biggest thing I need to remember is that I am an addict and I cannot just have one. NEW QUITTERS The minute you say you cannot do this PLEASE realize that that is the Nicotine in your system and your brain is being rewired to a life without nicotine. IT CAN BE DONE I’m PROOF right along with all the other quitters on this site. In closing @RWN Thank you so much for reaching out to me when I did not return after the first time and telling me to get my ass quit again. RESPECTFULLY Killshot P.S. Do not judge my grammar or my writing ability because I know it is horrible and by the way Cheers to day 101.

I quit dip November 27th, 2016 Day 4 was December 1st, 2016; and Day 5 was the subsequent 2nd of December. Day 4 was pretty smooth. I was very busy yesterday - to the point in which I couldn't get people out of my office to catch up. I was busy enough to not find room to write a blog entry. Everything was going very well; until I was prepping/packing for an upcoming event. I encountered the hardest crave-attack I've ever experienced last night. It was overwhelming. My body and mind we screaming in unison to throw my decision to quit away at all costs and finally put a dip in once and for all. My stress levels were high, but I fought it off. I was pacing and sweating and extremely uncomfortable. It finally began to subside and I went to sleep. Today has been incredible (Day 5). I feel like I'm gaining mental control back and the physical withdrawals are starting to fade. My lip and mouth muscles are not twitching hardly at all anymore. This is the first morning I've woken up and not immediately thought about and/or felt the strong urge to put a dip in. I got up, brushed my teeth, and started my day (with a toothpick in, of course.) I'm starting to develop a physical and mental HATE for smokeless tobacco. Its crazy what my brain is doing because part of me feels like a good friend of mine that has kept me company for a long time has DIED, and it makes me sad. But the other half of me loathes the idea of dipping altogether. The can, the dirtiness of it, the trail of dip I left everywhere, the lesions on my gums, the hard dependency, the planning I had to do when I was on the run, around family, etc., the "sick" cycle where I would be sick enough to not dip, but as soon as I was well, I jumped back into it, the dip ALL OVER my truck/vehicles, the anxiety I would have when I didn't have a can ready to go off the last pinch, the receding gums in the mirror and many more circumstances. Dipping was fun, and I enjoyed it - but that was something I used to do. Its a dirty habit meant for someone else. I'm smart enough and tough enough to leave that behind. I'm clawing my way out of the woods and I can see the end of the treeline ahead. I still have obstacles; but I can see them. I'm planning on negotiating them, and I am anticipating them. Sure, a snake could come up, unforeseen. But the closer I get to the treeline, the stronger I become. As many POWs will say: "1,000 days of evasion are better that 1 day of captivity." Tobacco shackles you up, throws your ass in a box and throws away the key. I also got a chance to (inadvertently) talk to a behavioral health psychologist - for those of you tuned in, years of behavioral health and psychological research went behind what I'm going to tell you here. I told him what I was trying to do, and he empathized with my decision and approach SIGNIFICANTLY. He told me these important things about quitting tobacco: 1.) It is comparable to coming off of a severe cocaine addiction. Nicotine addiction is substantially stronger than a heroine addiction. (So, pat yourselves on the back - we are going through withdrawals (and trying to stay sane) similar to those coming off of heroine and cocaine). 2.) 2 weeks. Get to 2 weeks. Fight your ass off to get to 2 weeks quit. After that, your success rate goes up exponentially. 3.) This phrase: "You can quit, but you'll still want it your whole life." is garbage. Don't listen to it. You have to hate dip; you have to rearrange your thoughts, feelings and emotions about dip - you have to associate dip with the most repulsive, horrible thing you can imagine. You'll never want it again. 4.) Keep going and keep talking about it. There are people all around you that will help - put them to work. Quit on, guys! -Chip
