  1. Good post. We're on to Big Tobacco's plot, at least here at QSSN we are. Shame on 60 minutes for running this. They made it seem OK to use SNUS. I hate them and big tobacco more than ever after watching that. Leave my kids alone you skumbags. I hate the 60 minutes story! It made me so angry!!!! It is telling me it is ok to snus. I would love it if it was certain not to destroy my teeth, guns, lips, throat, jaw, and every other part of my body! I am not buying it and I agree, shame on them. I choose to remain quit! I actually found it informative. The cool thing is I no longer resent the tobacco companies. It's a non-issue for me today, thanks to you guys and this site. For being 68 years old, Leslie Stahl is HOT! Thanks, Rick! You are right. I should have focused on Leslie. I am sure you have something special for her.

  3. Chad, Hang in there brother! I grew up just across the border in Glyndon, MN. Don't think your girl does not know you chew. People know something is up and confessing it (for me at least), will set you free and help you stay quit. Please stick with it now. Don't wait for 20 or 30 years like many of us. Remember, you may be a ninja dipper in public, and a huge dipper in private, people do know. I have been told people could see my brown fingers, my nervous nature, the fleck of crap in my teeth, the lip the seemed to protrude empty. You can do it and let this site help you and just promise everyday to quit. Did you find you quit group? Send me a PM if you need a firend. Tom
  4. QuitorDie, Am I reading this correct, your date is not until August?? Joecop, you need better glasses or a bigger screen. His quit date says 3-18-10! Still looks like 08/20/10 to me. Maybe there is a glitch in the settings on each of computers. Or, maybe with the counters of the site. My quit date for him shows 3-20 too. Just a thought. I know it jumps around a little for my date and I do not know why. Who cares, if at least he is quit. Maybe Joecop is 3-18. I now see the 8/20. Good luck.

  6. I read the newest one today. I don't think it was there when I looked (probably already removed.) I am just curious to know what malarchy was there.
  7. Bill, You showed up at the right place. I never smoked, but the nija part I did for a really long time. Funny, I thought no one knew, but having quit, a lot of people knew, especially those who were in my family. Glad you are here. Do what you have to do to quit. Just keep the crap out of your mouth. Go to the quit groups pages and pony up everyday by posting and promise to not chew. Repeat everyday. I did not think it worked, but I am a believer. good luck and if you need a quit buddy to call, let me know. Tom
  8. Hey brother, enjoy your trip. Europe does carry the poison! I know, because I lived there several years in Switzerland and travelled all around in Europe. It is not in every store like the U.S., but it is not hard to find. Have a nice trip and if you see it in Italy, eat a piece of pizza instead of a chew.
  9. It sounds like you have more of a motivation to quit than many. I used to think the labels that said it was not a safe alternative to cigarettes was more safe than the ones that warned of cancer. I was just trying to make me feel better. I knew it was a lie. You are doing great! Once each day, just post and say no! Tom
  10. Hang in there brother. Here, they are tough and they care. Don't make the mistake I did thinking I can do it until my teeth and gums rot away. I promise you (the gums and teeth) they will. And, you won't know if it it gum disease or cancer, and you will be afraid to find out. The folks here are giving you a time out to think, because like me, many have thought this is not hard to quit. Just get it done! And make sure you are accountable by posting every single day! If you are having a rough time, let us know. You can quit when you know this is bigger than a stupid can of cheww across the counter. Tom
  11. Hang in there brother. I thought I was having a terrible time waking up early and not being able to go back to sleep because I felt so tired. I figured out it was actually my body adapting to not having poison in it. In fact, I found out that I needed less sleep than before and my body was craving that blood pressure boost that chew seemed to provide. I now know when I wake up early and feel tired, I get up and start my day. The fake stuff helps, but after a while, I was trying to make my teeth whiter and it seemed to keep them stained, so I gave up on that too. Use the fake stuff until you feel you don't need it and when you struggle, come here and let us know. We will help you with it. Tom
  12. Just thought I would share for a brief moment. In 38 days since I quit, I have not had heartburn. I just realized this since I always carry a large bottle of Tums 1000. I have not taken 1 of those things in 38 days. And, even though I use some of that Oregon mint and a little smc, my lip is always smooth. The toxins they put in tobacco must be extreme! I want to stop the smc, because it definately discolors my teeth, and clothes if I happen to drool on it. But that mint, is so fresh and swallowing it does not cause indigestion or cancer! Ok, there are my thoughts. Small things start to happen. If you are looking around the site thinking about joining, go for it. It does not make the craves go away. I think about that crap I shoved in my mouth quite a lot. Right now, I just don't do it. There are great folks here that uniquely understand the real life about quitting. Folks who have never chewed, just say stop, but don't understand the pains. They do here!
  13. Welcome! Hang with the site and folks here will make sure you know how to use it and will support you everyday, as many times a day as you need it. I travel almost every week, and the driving, flying, hotel time were my biggest chew times... just to kill time, and come to think of it, kill me too! Today is day 27, and you know what, it is possible. I think the folks here will be one of the greatest tools you have to remind you not to give into the temptation. Just promise each day you will not chew, and renew that promise the next day. And get on over to the October 2009 quit group and join in and post. Let me know if I can help you in anyway. We are all in this together, and I am starting to find out, the folks here are from every walk of life with one thing in common - trying to return to that state when each of us never touched the garbage, because our minds and bodies could have cared less. Keep strong and I look forward to your posts! Tom
  14. Mike, Welcome! The toughest chew is the one you have in when you were typing this message. It is like making love to your mistress one last time before you end the affair. And, you can see what that did to our congressman in South Carolina. Seriously, just let it be a past part of your life, join the Oct 2009 quit group, and commit each day to not using tobacco. It works. No more chaws of cancer when you on this board, just support. Look forward to seeing you post tomorrow. Let me, or anyone here know, what we can do to help you quit. Tom
  15. Welcome! You will be in our September quit group. I was a stealther myself. At the beginning, I thought it was cool, but after numerous years, I was ashamed and started getting nervous it would affect my health. I also got sick of lying to the people important in my life and always finding an excuse to sneak away to have a selfish chew. I hate that part of me. But, 23 days down, and some great quitters in our group, and on this site, you will find the support you need. Look forward to seeing you over in the September 2009 group, and step up and post each day. Tom
