Today's MAD: 64 total

Swimming MAD total: 10

Total Running MAD: 5460.5 miles since 1/2/2010

Weight: 205 -

didn't realize I hadn't posted in such a long time.   Training for the 8 miler trail run went very well, but I actually skipped the race to attend a funeral.   My last few runs have caused some knee pain to flare up, so I will be resting/cross-training for a week or so.

Safe travels Farley!

Had a few nice runs while back in the midwest over Xmas.  A few nice runs since returning home to SF.  Showed Jess around my Mt. Tam trails today.  College football playoffs ave not been too exciting so far, hopefully Oklahoma can give Bama a game but it's not starting out that way.

Hope everyone is having a nice dip free holiday season!

Dec. 31, 2018: 4.00 MAD

...........................11,194.50 MAD total

Footwear: Lone Peaks

Weight: hovering around 183

2019 race schedule:

02.02.19: Fort Ord 50K:

04.05.19: Forget The PR 50K, Volunteers Run:

08.16.19: Kodiak 100:

I didn't sign up for a 100 miler last year and I definitely felt like something was missing from my life.  Sitting here at midnight last night and my itchy trigger finger took over...BAM, I registered for Kodiak 100 miler at Big Bear Lake.  This is one form of Kodiak that I can get behind!  That used to be my poison of choice for 15 years.  11 years ago I made one of the best life decisions to quit.  This 100 miler will be in honor of being Kodiak free.

Cheers!

Saw the ortho today. Apparently i was a real dumbass for not getting this taken care of 7 years ago when the initial meniscus tear occurred. I guess i blame stubbornness. Now at 37 the ortho says bc of the trauma i have early onset arthritis and possibly tear. Need more imaging on the tear. He wanted to put me on strong anti-inflammatory and cortisone shot. I said nope. Gonna look at the natural route. Turmeric, cur cumin, condroiton, etc.... Any of you gents dealing with arthritis? How the heck does a over all healthy 37 year old decently athletic guy get arthritis? dang genetics. ha

I've had tendinitis in my wrists since I was 24 years old (insert jokes here), happened from working in a sort aisle at a UPS hub.  I agree with taking the natural way.  In my opinion, the best way to cut down on inflammation in the body is to eat non inflammatory foods.  I take a tumeric / curcumin pill every day.  eat mostly a plant based diet (a little seafood here and there).  Try to avoid dairy, sugar, and processed foods.

Today's MAD: 35 total

Swimming MAD total: 10

Total Running MAD: 5495.5 miles since 1/2/2010

Weight: 210 - weight jumped up over the holidays.

I've done a little more resting than running lately.   I'll be sticking to the 3 milers for while I lose some weight.   When I start adding more miles at this weight, it take a toll on this old body.

Race Schedule

Nothing as of today but looking to set some goals for 2019

Daily MAD : 3.0

MAD- 2019- 3.0

5 minutes of planks, 50 pushups, and 3 miles at a 9:30 pace. Good way to kick things off after a reset from the race.

This furlough is starting to piss me the fuck off.

Rainy season here in SF.  I don't mind, this is the first winter of my lifetime where I don't have to deal with freezing temperatures, ice, and snow.  So many mornings in the midwest of scraping shit off my windshield while waiting for the car to warm up.  I am not missing that right now!

Cheers!

Today's MAD: 11 total

Swimming MAD total: 10

Total Running MAD: 5506.5 miles since 1/2/2010

Weight: 210 - weight staying steady.  The extra 25+ pounds is definitely hurting my ability to run.

The lighter run schedule has improved the achy foot.   Now, I have GOT to concentrate on the weight loss.

Happy to see more activity in here.

I managed to avoid the monsoon today.  Ran during a little break in the rain.  Going through the woods during 40 to 50 mph winds was kind of hairy though.  Probably not the best idea I've ever, that's the ultra runner brain working.  Looking forward to the 35K this weekend (22 miler).  It will be a nice last long run before Fort Ord 50K in two weeks.

Cheers!

Bflem!  Glad to hear your knee pain has calmed down a bit.  Stay on the tumeric and keep running!

A lot of tree debris laying all over the place as I surveyed the damage from the high winds and rain last night https://www.strava.com/activities/2085877315.  It is definitely nice running in the daylight Tiger!

Cheers!

Jan. 18 - Jan. 22, 2019: 31.50 MAD

The 35K went well on Sunday and I ended up with less than a 12 minute mile pace overall even with 3,200 feet of climbing over the 22 miles.  It poured down rain for most of the race and parts of the trails were very soupy with mud.  I felt good, went out way to hard for the first half of the race which was mostly climbing.  I had a lot of fun and the trails were phenomenal, there is something really special about running through Redwood Trees. I didn't take my phone with me due to the rain so I was not able to get any pictures.  I will be working on the race report soon.  Want to get it wrapped up before Fort Ord 50K which is less than 2 weeks away!

Cheers!

Bflem, how is the knee doing?  I see you did an 8:40 pace for a 5K, nice work!

Tiger, heck yeah brother!  Get out to the trails, that's where all the fun is at!

Still somewhat recovering from the 35K last weekend but for the most part I feel I am ready for Fort Ord this weekend.  Going to Portland for work tomorrow through Thursday.  Hoping to get a few miles in along the Columbia River while I am there.  I won't be posting until after the race but have a good week and a better weekend.

Cheers!
